James & the Boys - Day 12

The boys woke up pretty early and so we jumped up at 6:15am and had breakfast and we were gone by 7:15am. Poor Lincoln though he has woken up with conjunctivitis….. Not good when we have to travel all day.

It was a great trip and everybody was very hospitable to let us stay in their houses and feed us and let the boys run amok. Thanks very much it was such a huge relief with everyone helping me out with the boys.

But now I can't wait to get back in to our own place and get back to normality for the boys.

I put a DVD on for the boys and the trip to Rocky was pretty smooth with no hiccups. I was feeling a little tired but nothing a Mother Energy drink couldn't fix. We did have to stop at one point hough because Lincoln had woken up from his sleep and one of his eyes was glued shut. After I fixed that up we were on our way again. In Rocky we stopped for fuel and also found an awesome park to stop at for the boys. I think it was the botanical gardens but can't be certain. The dogs had a little stretch just out of town and then off we went.

After leaving rocky I didn't realise it was so close to lunch so we stopped just North of Mount Larcom at a service station. I thought I could feed Lincoln on my lap at the restaurant, but that wasn't going to work. He is really restless when you hold him and feed him. I had food going everywhere… Lucky I parked in the shade so we went back to the car and I fed him there while Presto jumped and climbed and spilled his wedges all through my car…. Doh! He was really helpful though when we had to clean up the restaurant and he was such a great kid.

Next stop, Gympie! I had planned on stopping at Apple Tree Creek park for the boys but they fell asleep , so I stopped and gave the dogs a run and then kept pushing through. I pulled in at Red Rooster for Dinner and asked the lady where a park was for the kids, and it just so happened it was around the corner. It was a brilliant park with a skate park there also, which Preston loved. So while I fed Lincoln on the park tables Preston ran amok on the skate park and there was hardly anyone there. When he went in the skate park dome I lost sight of him but he was all good. The last time he went down he couldn't get up but I couldn't see. So lucky this other young dad saw him and gave him a hand and he had to pick him up and run up the side to get him out, so you can imagine my look when I see my kid in someone else's hands running with him. It wasn't long before I worked out what it was for though.

After dinner we headed for home and it's only 2 hours to go.

We pulled over for one more stop to give Lincoln his bottle and we made it home right on 8:30pm. It was an awesome trip with the kids being so great. If they whinged, I gave them a biscuit or their dummy and they were fine. I was getting a bit sick of the Wiggles and High 5 though.

When we got to North Lakes Presto broke my heart because he was asking if Mum was at home. It didn't help that Mummy's car is in the garage when I opened the roller door. Before the boys went to bed we had a little play and then I had the arduous task of unpacking and trying to figure what the damage is from all the dust from the dust storm. Tomorrow is going to be a big clean-up day….
