James & the Boys - Day 17
Well it broke my heart this morning when I got up to the boys and I could hear Preston calling me as usual. I got his bottle and stuff for his eyes ready and opened the door and the poor kid looked at me with his dummy in his mouth, pulled it out and pointed to his eye, saying "daddy eye, eye" and I looked down and his left eye was glued shut from the conjunctivitis. He just wanted me to fix it for him. I cleaned it all up for him and had to put some more drops in for him which stings like anything.
Well mum is due home tonight so it's time to get the place all spic and span and to go to the shops to get some more supplies. So we headed to the shops and this time I was all prepared with my list and my wallet.
We didn't get up to too much when we got home, because I didn't want anything to go wrong on my last day and the boys were really good. While shopping we got some stuff for mum's Birthday and we got her a card. We had some fun painting our hands on mum's Birthday card and it could have been really messy but lucky I had a bucket of water ready to wash their hands. We had red blue and yellow paint everywhere.
Presto woke up early again, so today we made a nice chocolate cake for mum for her birthday. Preston got chocolate everywhere as you'd expect and he kept shoving his hand into the mixture to taste it.
The afternoon was just good playing with the boys in the back yard kicking the ball and jumping on the trampoline. Linc loved the tramp, the swing and also chasing the ball and kicking it with me swinging him. I had him in stitches, it was great fun.
The day was looking good and nothing had gone wrong, until dinner. I was all prepared for dinner and Linc was getting the same as last night whether he liked it or not. I pureed it more so there was no lumps and shouldn't be any complaints….. Wrong….. He hated it and started a little war…. Just eat it ya little bugger, there's nothing wrong with it…. In the end I gave in and fed him my spaghetti again and he ate it fine. Seen as he ate my dinner I decided to eat Linc's and geeeeez…. There was way too much garlic in it. No wonder he didn't eat it, it was burning my throat there was that much. Oh well, he got fed.
It came to bath time and it's the last thing that we have to do before bed time and then mum will be home in the morning. Presto was in the bath on his own while I got everything ready and Linc was just watching. While I was soaping the face washer, Presto did a massive fart and was laughing and then pushed out another one. It was pretty funny but I said "stop pushing because if you follow through I'm not gonna be happy…" Well I went to wash him and was looking at his head end of the bath and could smell something and looked down the feet end and…. Oh nooooo…. The little bugger shat in the bath…. Grrrrrr… I was not happy… I cleaned it up and washed him and Lincoln in record time and put them to bed early.
Despite all the mishaps I had with both boys shit, it was a great time that I got to spend with both of them. I think I really grew as a father and got to really know what goes on when I'm at work. It's a lot of work to look after the 2 boys and I take my hat off to Danielle who does this day in and day out and to all mothers. I will never forget these past 2 & a half weeks and I will help out a lot more seen as I can't use the excuse that "I didn't know".
